Introduction | A new option to improve acne scars with virtually no downtime
Acne scars, or craters, are indentations in the skin caused by inflammation reaching the dermis. Because they leave scars, many people find that traditional treatments such as peels and microneedling are "not very effective," and many have suffered from them for years.
A new treatment option for acne scars has emerged: "Juvellook." It works by using a mild acid to gradually lift the skin over several months, and its biggest feature is that there is virtually no downtime. In this article, Dr. Takahashi, director of Elm Clinic Okayama, and Chairman Aihara explain in detail everything from how Juvellook works to its effects, how it differs from Potenza, and the recommended number of treatments, in a dialogue format.
- How Juveluk works and how it differs from conventional treatments (Dermapen/peeling)
- Other indications besides craters (pores, fine lines, neck, back of hands, etc.)
- Recovery period and how to spend time after the procedure
- Differences from Potenza and how to combine them
- Techniques for controlling concentration to prevent unevenness
- Recommended frequency/number of times

What is Jubeluk? | A mechanism that gradually lifts and firms the skin with a mild acid.
Jubeluk is an injectable preparation primarily composed of polynucleotides (PDRNs). By directly injecting it into depressions and atrophied tissue in the skin, it stimulates collagen production and gradually lifts the skin from within over several months.
Traditional acne scar treatments, such as Dermapen (which uses the physical stimulation of needles) and TCA peeling (which uses the chemical stimulation of strong acids), promote collagen regeneration. While these treatments have some effect, the strong stimulation can result in a long downtime, and in some cases, many sessions are required to see noticeable improvement.
| Treatment | Main Stimulus | downtime | Characteristics |
|---|---|---|---|
| juve look | Weak acid (polynucleotide) | Almost none (recovered the next day) | It gradually lifts the skin over several months. |
| Dermapen | Physical stimulation of the needle | A few days to about a week | Numerous tiny holes promote collagen regeneration. |
| TCA Peeling | Chemical irritation from strong acids | Longer duration (with peeling) | It stimulates skin regeneration through strong stimulation. Handle with care. |
Indications for Jebeluk | Not just for craters
Because Jubeluk works by lifting indentations from within, it can address a variety of skin concerns besides craters.
- Acne scars (craters): The most common indication. Gradually improves depressions that have reached the dermis.
- Enlarged pores and fine lines: Its lifting effect helps to address pores and fine lines.
- Neck wrinklesIt can be injected into areas other than the face, such as horizontal wrinkles on the neck.
- Wrinkles on the back of the handAddresses the loss of firmness on the back of the hands due to aging.
Downtime and post-treatment progress
One of the biggest advantages of JUVERK is its short downtime. Immediately after injection, the injection site may feel bumpy, but it will almost completely subside by the next day.
- Immediately after injection ~ same day: Injection marks may appear uneven.
- next day: Bumps are almost always pulled out
- 1-2 weeks: A small, pinpoint mark (purple dot) may remain from the injection.
- 1-2 months laterCollagen production increases, and you begin to notice changes in your skin.
*The perceived effects and the length of downtime may vary from person to person.
Differences from Potenza and how to combine them
Potenza is also a frequently chosen treatment for treating acne scars and enlarged pores. Both Juvellook and Potenza can address acne scars and enlarged pores, but they work on different aspects of the skin.
| Comparison item | juve look | Potenza (CP25 chip) |
|---|---|---|
| Main Stimulus | Chemical irritation (weak acid) | Physical stimulation (needle) + high-frequency heat + medication |
| Speed of change | Slowly over several months | You can usually feel the effects relatively quickly. |
| downtime | Almost none (recovered the next day) | Redness lasts from the next day to several days. |
| Main Indications | Craters, pores, fine lines, neck, back of hands | Crater, pore, redness, and skin texture improvement |

Concentration control and recommended number of applications to prevent unevenness
Many people online are concerned about the possibility of unevenness in the jubeluk treatment, but at Elm Clinic, we address this issue through careful mixing.
- After the first injection, until the effects begin to appear1-2 monthsIt takes
- Follow-up appointments are scheduled every 1-2 months to check the condition and to perform additional injections in the same or a different area.
- First,3 timesBy using this as a guideline, you can more easily feel the changes.
- The number of sessions varies from person to person, and will be decided in consultation with the doctor at each appointment whether it is necessary.
Summary | Find the right treatment for you through counseling
- Jebeluk is a treatment that involves injecting a weak acid (polynucleotide) to gradually lift and firm the skin over several months.
- There is virtually no downtime. The bumps subside the day after the injection, and the actual downtime is only about one day.
- In addition to treating craters, pores, and fine lines, it can also be used on areas other than the face, such as the neck and the back of the hands.
- Potenza uses high-frequency waves and needle stimulation to deliver noticeable results more quickly. Combining it with HydraGentle is also effective for treating pores.
- To prevent lumps, stirring and concentration homogenization were carried out for approximately 30 minutes.
- You'll likely notice a difference if you receive treatment three times, approximately every one to two months.
JUVERK is a suitable treatment for those who have not seen satisfactory results with previous crater treatments or who want to minimize downtime. It can also be combined with Potenza or other treatments for more personalized care. Please feel free to contact us for a consultation.
